As President of GBOLA and a long time member, I value the amount of research dedicated to market analysis in comparing the cost savings of privately owned office space versus new construction state owned buildings.

This analysis we provide to the state legislature, as well as, GBOLA members. In addition, our members are able to meet the financial budgets of agencies or departments, whether state or local government entities, as well as provide building maintenance or repairs in a timely and cost effective way.

In addition, I value the great working relationship we have developed with Department of Enterprise Services (DES) and Office of Financial Management (OFM). Working together with both private and public sector to work collaboratively.

I am involved with GBOLA because they share my belief that private-sector market-based solutions are the most cost effective and efficient means to deliver office and warehouse space to the State of Washington. This simple and indisputable truth has been proven time and time again. Further, GBOLA has worked very effectively with DES to define Leased Space Requirements (LSR) which protects the quality of space delivered to the State of Washington, while maintaining a fair and competitive atmosphere that the private sector can respond to.

Since GBOLA has been established in 1994, we have been able to work with various lawmakers and staff in presenting technical information of the advantages for government at all levels to be able to lease office and warehouse space at a lower lease rates than building a brand new state owned office building. Therefore bringing value to both the state and the private sector.
